Sushi Fest May 2005

Mr. April is showing the 6th grade basic skills on making sushi.

Alyssa and Ali making sushi rolls.

My favorite part of making sushi was when we had to put the rice on and spread the rice.

It was really hard to spread on the rice and cut the rolls.

Teddy, Garret, and Michael are making sushi on their own with eggs, ham, seaweed, rice, and avocado.

I liked making sushi. It was really fun, because I have already eaten sushi but I didn’t know how to prepare it or make it. -Garret

Nick, Ian, and James rolling sushi.

In the blue shirt is Sarah B. getting ready to cut the sushi she made. In the red shirt is Amanda trying to fix her already cut and rolled sushi.

Enjoying the food we made.

Some of us loved the smell of fresh sushi. Others have more sensitive taste buds and noses.

Josh the Master Chef is making everyone specialized sushi. He lets them choose the ingredients and makes them it.

Bethany with a knife slicing the sushi rolls. Oh noo! Poor sushi.

Rene just had some wasabi.

Garret and Teddy making sushi.

The girls did a good job at making sushi, I just watched.

Making sushi was a very unique experience. I enjoyed the sushi, unlike some people, and it was fun to make. I only put wasabi on one piece and I thought it was pretty spicy. I had never had seaweed or sushi before. It was very interesting.

It was fun making sushi.  I never new that it was that easy to make sushi.  Using wasavi on the sushi made it taste so good, it was not that hot.  I liked to experiment with the different fillings.  The rice patty sushi was good, but a little dull tasting.  I enjoyed it very much.

I learned that the seaweed wrap tasted like dead fish, but when you put every thing in and wrap it you don’t taste it. I had a lot of fun when I was mixing the rice because the rice was cool and was very sticky so it was stuck to my hands. I thought that I would never eat sushi but now that I tried it I love it. I really thought that sushi was made with raw fish but it is really made with rice.

-Kelsey

I thought the sushi fest was really fun. It made me have a craving for sushi though, and it is not easy to come upon, the only downfall of this. I really like sushi, and this was the first time I tried it to experience and great new food It was even fun to make sushi not only to eat it. I liked it with seaweed the best but it was good with the other rice patty. This is how I like the sushi fest.

I learned what ingredients you use to make sushi. I learned how to make sushi, by spreading the rice on the sea weed, adding vegetables, and rolling it up. I learned that in Japan, they cut their sushi roll into six pieces for tradition. I enjoyed making sushi, because I have never made it, and I enjoyed eating it, because I have never tried it before.

-Tamra

I had a lot of fun at the sushi fest that day. I liked learning how to make it. I also had fun making it even though I don’t like the smell or taste of sushi. I found it cool how the stuff and wrap it. It was a lot of fun.

-Jonathan

The Sushi festival was very fun. The sushi looked great but tasted awful. I had a really fun time making the sushi and rolling it and then cutting it up. Everything tasted good except for the seaweed. It was and awesome experience that I would normally never get the chance to do. I had an awesome time.

-Sean

The other day we had a Sushi fest in school! I had a great time, I mean we had fun, learned, and got food! The culture of Japan is amazing, especially their food. It was fun making our own sushi, but eating it was even more enjoyable.
