Last week Ms. Gow came to our class and told us all about Turkey and Turkish Tiles. |
Turkey is a country that is on the continents of Europe and Asia. The capital of Turkey is Ankara. Ms. Gow told us she lived and worked in Turkey. She worked as a reporter. |
Most of us didn’t know where Turkey was and no one knew anything about Turkish Tiles, except Zachary. And Zachary knew about Turkey and Turkish Tiles because he is Ms. Gow’s son. |
Turkish Tiles are made of ceramic. The Turkish people made these tiles to decorate their buildings. |
The tiles are arranged in patterns. The most popular colors used are: sky blue, dark blue, and red. |
We made tiles with Ms. Gow. First, we looked at pictures of tiles to get ideas. Then, we sketched our designs on paper. |
Next, we took two tiles and transferred our designs onto the tiles and then we painted them. |
Ms. Gow let them dry and put a glaze over them. Everyone put his/her tiles on a table in front of the school for people to look at. We put our names on little tags. |
