This project was a year-long collaboration among the Hatfield Elementary School, the Center for Computer-Based Instructional Technology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, the Hatfield Historical Society, and the Hatfield Historical Commission, Hatfield. Funded by a Massachusetts Department of Education grant, the technology coordinator, Mike April and Fifth grade teacher, John Higuera worked with curriculum and technology specialists at CCBIT to bring history to the students.

The class studied wills, letters, and everyday artifacts from the American Colonial period, visited the Hatfield Historical Society to learn about the town's past, and used primary documents supplied by the Hatfield Historical Society. After completing their research, students created web pages using Microsoft Front Page.
