Hatfield in the Civil War

   

The North States thought the South States were cruel to have slaves. So that's when the Civil War started. The first man to die was a man from Hatfield.  The man was Elbrige D. Clifford. He died because of a wounded neck.

Machinery has revolutionized  farm operations. Oliver Smith's descendents died in 1845.  When the Civil War broke out in Hatfield the minister was the Reverend John M. Greene. The minister roused support for the cause.
