Old Mine

The old mine was located on Route 5 on the rocks in West Hatfield.  They used the lead for bullets during the American Revolution.  They dug for lead and gold.  They were worried about illness from the lead. Lead was easily found in the mine.  Some places in the old mine sunk down 15 to 20 feet.  One of the sunken places was four feet long.
