Hatfield in the Revolutionary War

When the Revolution happened Oliver Partridge was chosen moderator.  After that Timothy Woodbridge became pastor of a church.  Mr. Woodbridge died June 3, 1770.  Some of the Hatfield residents were supporters of the British, others decided to support the Revolution.

There were 127 men from Hatfield who fought in the Revolutionary War.  Hatfield helped the cause by giving beef to the soldiers so that they would not go hungry.  Hatfield’s men marched to Boston and fought in the Battle of Bunker Hill.  Hatfield also supported the American Revolution by paying men to join.  During one winter a group of French officers took refuge in the Hubbard Tavern in Hatfield.
