Memory Podcasts from Mrs. Ryan's Class - A study in the memoirs genre.

Students read several memoirs including those by authors Patricia Polacco and Cynthia Rylant before deciding on a model for their own memoir writing. Specifically, Cynthia Rylant's "When I Was Young in the Mountains" greatly influencial students' thinking and led them to write about something personal when they were young.

The project enabled students to take a piece of writing from a seed idea through the writing process: drafting, editing, revising, and finally recording their final piece in a podcast which helped them enhance their stories and present them to a wider audience.

Students listened to Martin Luther King Jr.'s I Have a Dream Speech and drew a picture in KidPix that represented what Dr. King's words meant to them.
