Principal's Points
Welcome to Smith Academy !
We are a grades 7-12 public high school serving 220 students in Hatfield, Massachusetts.
The faculty and staff at SA are among the best in the state and as a result, students receive an excellent college preparatory education in a safe and supportive environment. While that is my subjective opinion, here is what the New England Association of Schools and Colleges Accreditation Team said about Smith Academy after their visit in September 2004.
“The overall quality of the educational opportunities available to Smith Academy students is outstanding.
The learning environment is relaxed, comfortable, and safe. The climate is orderly, and both the administration and staff work hard to
maintain an atmosphere that is supportive to all students. The faculty, administration and staff also demonstrate a strong dedication to the
school and take obvious pride in their work. Both veteran and less experienced teachers appear willing to investigate new methodologies.
The students obviously value their school as evidenced in the exhibitions of student work, the student accomplishments bulletin board,
participation in extracurricular activities, and the overall sense of appropriate language and behavior. Students also demonstrate the utmost
respect for their administrators and teachers.”
